I had to get away to let off some steam this
afternoon so I went over to Burke Lake. Its
quiet solitude and stunning beauty, with
lingering fall colors reflected in still waters,
was soothing to my soul. I enjoyed watching 24
ruddy ducks (only 7 females), 2 male buffleheads,
1 pied-billed grebe, 5 croaking great blue
pterodactyls, I mean herons, a dozen mallards,
and about 50 Canada Geese.
