Today a group of 8 Cedar Waxwings were feeding in the berries high amongst the
treetops along the equestrian trail appx 100 yds south of the gingko orchard on
the west side of the arboretum. Nearby were a dozen white throated sparrows.
Sky Meadows State Park on Woodpecker Ln gave me my first Va Eastern Meadowlark
of the season along with 100's of robins converging! Close look at a juvenile
red-headed woodpecker as well. Both locations had very close red tail hawk
aerial displays.
A quick detour from Rte 50 to Swift Shoals Rd under the bridge to de-tick
provided 3 DC Comorants on the Shenandoah Rvr. A very close red shouldered hawk
also.
