As I pulled into the driveway of Daniel Marshall's barber shop (open 5
to 7 PM Tuesday through Friday; regular hair $7, long hair $10, really
long hair, go somewhere else) in downtown Townsend at 5 PM yesterday I
was greeted by the distinctive cooing of a Eurasian collared dove and
quickly found two others on the phone wire over head. This is near their
usual Northampton County haunts but maybe a mile north of the Magotha
Road intersection and more than that from Cedar Grove where they are
more often reported.
