Shorebird numbers have increased somewhat since Sunday at Hughlett Point
NAP, Northumberland County. There were more short-billed dowitchers today,
including at least four of the hendersoni subspecies. Seven willets,
including at least two western willets. Least, semi-palmated and western
sandpipers, lots of greater and lesser yellowlegs, a dozen killdeer and only
the second marbled godwit I've ever had here. This bird is in breeding
plumage, despite its presence this early in the season.
