I know people won't believe this, but this morning as I exercised in
western Albemarle County, I heard the unmistakable song and call of a
Swainson's
Thrush in the exact location where I've heard it in previous years--in
May. This was at approximately 7:35 AM.
It sang for about 5 minutes and ended by repeating its call note a few
times.
(For Pete Myers: The bird was on the north side of route 614 just west of
674. It was close to the roadway, just past the curve and before
Riversong [on the other side of the road]).
Happy spring!
Sincerely,
Marlene
