I've had juncos in my feeders for as long as I've been feeding birds, but
they use the tray-type feeders rather than tube feeders with short
perches. I'd be interested in knowing what kind of feeders those who have
reported juncos in feeders for the first time are referring to. Have you
changed
the type of feeder you are making available?
I expect ground-feeding birds will not usually make use of tube feeders
unless they have no other choice.
Thanks so much. Oh, and I have one Rusty Blackbird at my tray feeder this
morning. There's about 20 inches (groan) of snow on the ground in western
Albemarle.
Does anyone know if Rusty Blackbirds are more typically in flocks?
Sincerely,
Marlene
