In 24 hours we had 5 different passage migrants (all warblers) at our house in
Fairfax. This is about as strong as the migration push ever gets at this
location. I hope this upturn is not just here.
May 12 - Black-Throated Blue female, Black-Throated Green
May 13 - Black-Throated Blue singing male, Redstarts (M&F), and Magnolia
We're also having great fun watching nesting Hairy Woodpeckers. They've
reached the stage where the juvenile is poking its head out of the nest hole
all the time, and the grubs delivered by the adults (mostly the female it
seems) never make it past the threshold.
Good birding everyone!!
