I was interested in reading reports from Highland County and South Boston
regarding ring bill gulls on the move. Today flocks of several dozen birds
were observed about the same time at Honaker, Lebanon and Castlewood
Virginia here in the southwest portion of the state. These towns are about
20 miles apart on an east-west axis. I presumed these gulls were migrating
north from their wintering home at South Holston lake but it looks as if
they were migrating on a broad front. Anyone else seeing them in Virginia
or Tennessee over the past few days? Ed Morgan, Abingdon, Virginia
