I saw my first American tree sparrows of the winter at Occoquan Bay NWR this
morning, with 4 seen in accompaniment with other sparrows feeding on the roads.
Other notable species were good numbers of fox sparrows, both kinglets, cedar
waxwing, and hermit thrush. All surrounding waters are still frozen, but this
should change by the end of the week.
