Began the morning before dawn at Powell Creek parking lot with 8-15 C.
Nighthawks flying low overhead (counted 15 but 8 was most I saw at one time).
Spent a couple of hours each at the Fairfax House ruins/battery area and on
Bushey Point. I saw (all but the Hooded W.) or heard 14 sp. of warbler, with
great views of male Blackburnian, male Bl.-thr. Green, Y.-Thr., female Bl.-Thr.
Blue, and Magnolia Warblers all in the group of Va. Pines along the trail at
the picnic area by the Bushey Pt. boathouse. The Blackburnian was only about 15
feet up, and hung around for at least 15 minutes. Watched a female N. Parula
collecting spider webs off of the chimney at the Fairfax House while a male
looked on from the lowest branches of one of the Ash trees.
