While on the topic of Bald Eagle sightings, does anyone know if the big nest
in the tree (toward the Maryland side)next to the basin where the new
Woodrow Wilson Bridge extension is being constructed is inhabited by a Bald
Eagle pair? As I travel over the bridge early and late, it now appears that
there is a "lump" hunkered down in the nest. Earlier in December I observed
an adult perched on the edge of the nest and another circling above it. If
it is a nesting pair, has there been any consideration given to the avoid
the construction disturbing them until they have (hopefully)fledged their
young? Up in New Jersey near the Edwin Forsythe NWR, the state actually
closed down a section of Route 9 to traffic during nesting for a Bald Eagle
pair.
