I started at Leesylvania at dawn (would've started earlier except for the
back-up due to some fishing tournement). The largest selection of warblers I've
seen there this year, although numbers were not high. Am. Redstarts outnumbered
Yell.-rump. Highlights, at least for me, where a male and female Wilson's W.
(not at same location), and a partially leukistic male Yellow-rump, which had
almost an all white cap with the rest looking normal. Headed for Monticello Pk.
about 10 AM. Arrived at Monticello Pk. at about 10:30, and highlights there
were a Blue-Headed Vireo (LOS?) and fantastic eye-level views of two
Bay-breasted Warblers that hung around for about 10 min. at the back of the
park (at the weir you can stand on) hawking about with a couple of Redstarts, a
Chestnut-sided, and a female Bl.-Throated Blue, all frequently within 10-25
feet of the rapt observers.
