Spent the morning at Occoquan (7AM-12N), foggy until ~9:30. I spent the first
1.5 hrs in the parking lot , primarily near the pond, and the first 100 yds of
Bayview - extremely birdy. I then went down to the end of Bayview and back,
then out Fox Rd., right on Deephole Pt Rd. to the photo blind, then reversed
course heading around Deephole Pt Rd past Easy Rd to view the cove, then back
down Easy to Bayview and then to parking lot.
Highlights, 9 species of Sparrow including 4 Fox Sparrows (saw all 9 species
at the parking lot and 100 yds down Bayview fr. 7-8:30 alone); Tundra Swans;
Rusty Blackbirds, and the final species of the day @ 11:50 AM, a flock of 10
Wild Turkeys on the lawn and on the fence to the right of the entrance gate
just outside the refuge.
