I have 2 Internet radios which I am using in London. They are Roberts Stream radios and have pre-set buttons. I required sighted assistance to set up my pre-sets on digital and to put in my wi-fi key and do the Internet pre-sets for Ireland but both radios are very VI friendly now all that is set up. I can move independently from station to station both on digital and on wi-fi, it is just a case of knowing how many presses of the buttons. Both radios are different but the good thing about them is that both are very tactile in terms of the buttons and the number of presses is the same for moving to wi-fi and back again. The volume up and volume down are marked with tactile Plus and Minus signs. I purchased these radios from John Lewis, a large Store here in London and UK wide. You could look them up on the John Lewis website which if you are doing a Google search is johnlewis.com and you can put in home page. Once you are there on the site there is a search box. One is the Roberts Stream 83i and I forget the name of the other but it is a Roberts Stream and may be 250 but not sure. It is around £150 Sterling whereas the Stream 83i was £130 approx when I purchased it. I understand that the Roberts 83i is available in Dublin. That one has a remote control and again all buttons on the remote are very tactile and once explained what button did what, I very much enjoy using it. The more expensive model does not have a remote control. The Roberts 83i is in black only and is only mains power but the other one can use mains and batteries. I think these radios are so good because in the UK Roberts makes radios for the British Wireless for the Blind. These radios can be purchased privately also from the British Wireless for the Blind Fund so that is another option. Hope this has been of some help.

Hi All,Can anyone here tell me if they are using an accessible internet radio unit around their homes. I have been asked if I could suggest any brand of radiofor internet based stations that would be fairly accessible. Many thanks, Paul.Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ncbiworkingforpeoplewithsightlossFollow us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/ncbi_sightloss Check-out NCBI's Micheal O Muircheartaigh appeal on the following link. http://youtu.be/25P2tiuCi0U ******************************************************************** National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) is a company limited by guarantee (registered in Ireland No. 26293) .
