The shiny new iPhone 6S is due to arrive in stores this Friday (September 25),
but Apple fans are scrambling to update their existing devices to iOS 9.

In fact, Apple claims that iOS 9 has already reached 50% of all compatible
devices, putting it on course to become its most-downloaded operating system.

"Customer response to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly
positive, we can't wait to get our most advanced iPhones ever into customers'
hands starting this Friday," said Apple marketing chief Philip Schiller.

"iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users
than any other software release in Apple's history."

Apple's retail stores will open at 8am on September 25, and the firm is
advising customers to get there early if they're hoping to make a walk-in
purchase.

Anyone who's ever seen an Apple Store on iPhone launch day will know exactly
what they are talking about - expect queues stretching around the block and
avid fans camping outside the night before.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will also be available through authorised Apple
resellers as well as EE, O2, Three, Virgin, Vodafone, and other approved
carriers.
