There's a tool called VoiceView that works with the Paperwhite. For it, you'll need an 'audio adapter' or Dongle from Amazon. - which was written in May 2016, at the outset of VoiceView on the Paperwhite.
However, you'll need to research it to try to get firsthand user reviews. It seems that accessibility on Amazon Kindles has ups and downs as upgrades roll out.

Hi again,
I have a Kindle Paper white
And I thank you for your great input.
I will look at the Kindle for windows
And see how it pans out.
I do use Jaws and of course, 'NVDA' with some upgraded voice options.
Would I remove the necessary books

From my Kindle And load them on to my Desk top
And then use the appropriate software?
Seems a little messy and clumsy?
Would be much easier to read them on the device
Already loaded.

The Kindle App on iPhone is accessible with VoiceOver.  And Kindle for
Windows desktop is accessible with latest NVDA.
