Sorry for the delay in replying but I was hoping that someone might suggest
a less complicated approach than the following.
Anyway, this is my experience. Also, I am assuming that you are using JAWS.
It may all seem rather complicated but it is something you get used to and
will will make more sense the second time you try it. I'm including fairly
detailed instructions because there may be others who will benefit from
this. If anyone has a quicker way of doing this, I'd be delighted to hear
it.
So here goes:
From the desktop, press the application key and type in super. Press the
down arrow key once or if necessary twice and you should read
superantispyware alternate start. Press enter and you may be offered the
usual dou you want to open the program, depending on your settings. If so,
tab to yes and press enter. Nothing will apparently happen but when you
next try and open Superantispyware, the alternate version will open. I find
this version easier to use with JAWS as all of the necessary information
does not appear on the ordinary start version.
So, once again now press the application key and type in super. This time
take the superantispyware you are offered without arrowing down to the
alternate start option mentioned earlier. Now, press alt tab and you are in
the superantispyware alternate start program.
Next, go into JAWS cursor and go to the bottom of the application screen.
You have two alternatives here, either upgrade, which means that you want to
pay for the upgraded version, or click here to check for updates, which is
what you want. Move your PC cursor to JAWS cursor while your JAWS cursor is
placed anywhere on the click here to check for updates line.
Superantispyware will now begin to update itself and, when it is finished
after a few minutes, it will let you know. Using the JAWS cursor once
again, there is an OK button at the bottom right of the application screen
so move your PC cursor to JAWS cursor while placed on that word.
Now, go back into JAWS cursor and then go to the top of the screen and begin
arrowing down. After a couple of lines, you will hear Scan this computer
and press PC cursor to JAWS cursor while anywhere in these words. You will
be offered a number of menu options which you can read using the down arrow
key while in JAWS cursor. Press on any you may think appropriate. Some of
them will not be permitted on the free version of Superantispyware and, if
you get a message like that, simply press Escape.
When you have finished, again, using JAWS cursor, go to the top and come
down with the arrow key until you hear either Quick Scan or Complete Scan.
The first time, it will probably be Complete Scan. Take whichever option is
offered, again using the PC cursor to JAWS cursor. Superantispyware will
now begin to scan your computer. When it has finished, it will let you
know. If you are using the Complete Scan option, this will take some time.
Next, reading from the top with the JAWS cursor, you will be told how many
problems it has found. Usually, these are minor so don't be surprised if
you find quite a few on your first scan. There is a Continue button at the
bottom of the screen so do a PC cursor to JAWS cursor here. You can read
again from the top with JAWS cursor for your own information here but what
you need to do next is find the Continue button, which will once again have
appeared at the bottom of the screen and again a PC cursor to JAWS cursor
begins the removal process, which will only take a few seconds, assuming
that there is no major problem.
When it has finished, it will tell you. Once again, find the OK button at
the bottom of the screen. Do a PC cursor to JAWS cursor here and you're
done and can exit Superantispyware.
