Hi Gary, Try the below instructions for both Eircom and O2. Go to the settings and go to Mail, Contacts, Calendar. Then click Add Account 1 Go to seetings. 2. Go to mail. 3. Go to add account 4. Go to other. 5. Add mail account. Setting up eircom email on IPhone If you have no mail account set up you can just touch the Mail app and the screen below will appear. If you have previous mail addresses, you need to go through Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add account Choose 'Other'. Choose 'Add Mail Account' if options exist. Put in details for name, address and password. Choose Save. On the next screen on the IMAP tab (chosen by default) Incoming Mail Server, enter webmail.eircom.net as the 'Host Name'. 'User Name' and 'Password' are your mail account details. On the Outgoing Mail Server enter smtp.o2.ie as the Host Name 'Verifying IMAP account information' will appear on the screen and may take a few minutes before telling you that it can't connect using SSL. Choose Yes to try without SSL. At this stage you should be able to receive mail whether on wifi or 3G/Edge. However you will only be able to send mail using the 3G/Edge connection. If you're on wifi, you will need to add and turn on other SMTP servers. Go the Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Your Email Address -> Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) -> Add Server. I'm on BT so I added mail.iol.ie. If you are on Eircom broadband, I think it's smtp.eircom.net but I haven't confirmed this. I think you leave each of the SMTP servers on so that sending mail will work depending on what connection you are on. O2 email On the iPhone go to Settings> Mail. Choose to Add a New account, enter the user details, choose POP. Then for the following enter: Incoming Mail Server: Host Name: pop3.o2.ie Username: Your O2.ie email address Password: Your O2.ie password Outgoing Mail Server: Hostname: smtp.o2.ie Username: Can leave blank Password: Can leave blank It will then try and configure your account using SSL, it will fail and after 30 seconds ask if you would like to configure without SSL. Choose Yes. It will then give an authentication error. You can accept this but still save the settings that you have entered. It will then give an error telling you that the email probably won't work, accept this. Go back into Settings> Mail. Choose the O2.ie email account, go to Advanced, turn Use SSL to OFF. Go back and ensure the smtp server name (smtp.o2.ie) is in the smtp field. If you then go back out to Mail on the home screen> under accounts (if you have more then one) your email should then load. A bit long winded but its suppose to work. Paul. -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. SPAMfighter has removed 1476 of my spam emails to date.
