I spoke with one of the Adobe accessibility team today, and
A workaround for updating Adobie Flash Player at present, for those who are
having difficulty as it needs visual assistance, install the updated version
directly, rather than as an upgrade. It's
cumbersome to do it this way, but it does do the trick.
