Microsoft is to create 200 jobs in Dublin over the next four months.
The technology company is expanding its digital sales team which already
employs 1,000 people in Ireland.
Among the new positions are sales representatives, technical sales specialists,
cloud solution architects, account executives and sales managers.
It is also seeking candidates who are fluent in languages, including English,
French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Italian and Spanish.
The Digital Sales Team was first established in Ireland four years ago and
employs 75 nationalities who collectively are fluent in 35 different languages.
"This rapid growth is creating superb career development opportunities for the
dynamic team which today represents more than 75 nationalities and fluency in
over 35 different languages," said Lisa Dillon, Vice-President, Microsoft EMEA
Digital Sales.
Last November,
<https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2020/1123/1179829-microsoft-jobs/> Microsoft
announced it was investing €27m in a new engineering hub in Dublin that will
see 200 roles created.
The company has today also unveiled details of its new Microsoft Sales Academy.
It will see 25 recruits from a variety of backgrounds, who have little or no
digital skills, taken on to learn how to develop a digital sales career.
There will be four intakes each year to the six-month long programme.
Each of the trainees will get a job as a Digital Sales Representative at the
end.
All the new roles will bring to 2,800 the numbers employed by Microsoft in
Ireland.
The announcements were welcomed by Taoiseach Micheál Martin, who said it is a
strong vote of confidence in Ireland as a destination for investment, and in
the talent of the country's workforce.
