Maureen,

The OCR in NVDA is designed to cope with incidental graphic representations of
text that people like to put up on the web from time to time. To use it, just
make sure that you have the graphic under the cursor. You can check this by
pressing the 5 key in the middle of the numpad. Or, in a laptop by pressing the
letter "j", which is the laptop equivalent. As soon as you have the graphic in
place, Press the NVDA key with r. the OCR is then on the screen to read with
the NVDA browse mode. However, you can open an  notepad file and paste the
scanned result into it.

All the best,

Cearbhall

Hi Maureen and hope you are doing well in these very unusual times?

Not exactly sure what you are really asking about with OCR Maureen but I can
invoke NVDA to read material for me on occasions,  when JAWS fails to answer
the call.

If you have a follow-up query, don't hesitate to come back to me....Slainte

Can anybody tell me how the OCR in NVDA works?

Thanks,
Curious,

Maureen.
