Hi Aedan,

Well as they say "there's no such thing as a free lunch". I have seen this
kind of behaviour crop up a few times before and it was hardware related.
It turned out to be an incorrectly placed in soundcard, modem or video card
and in another case bad IRQ settings. I think that your friend needs to look
in his "MSInfo32 utility which he can access by going into "run then typing
in msinfo32 and pressing enter key. If he goes through it carefully he will
come to a section like a sub menu where you can view possible IRQ
conflicts. But perhaps that USB and printer problem he had previously has
just started to show up more problems and he should disconnect the printer
and see how the computer reacts then.

Paul.

Subject: [vip_students] Problem with PC

Hi Paul,
Payback time buddy!
A ham friend has a problem with his PC in that after reinstalling Windows XP
because his printer would not work any more on a u s b port he got that
working again but now his pc won't turn off!
It makes all the right clicks but won't turn off the power supply. He has
checked all settings under power management. All ok there.
Any thoughts, oh learned one?

Aedan.
