Just jumping in on this thread to say that I purchased the NVDA Basic
Training for NVDA ebook from the NVDA website yesterday for 30 Australian
dollars, following on Cearbhall's recommendation.
It is brilliant, covering everything from the most basic computer and speech
synthesizer info right through to the more intricate aspects of NVDA itself
so it targets everyone from the absolute beginner upwards to advanced.
It offers clear explanations and practice exercises to help the user use and
understand everything. As I mentioned in an earlier email, you can download
a free sample covering the Introduction and a later section on the Review
Mode.

I did try that 'stroke' you gave beforehand which I saw in the quick keys
guide you so kindly posted here, that's why I wrote here as it didn't work
for me anyway.
The keystroke on laptop NVDA plus A subsequently worked fine.
