Hi Garry Try the below and see how you get on. 1. Look at System Preferences, Sounds, Sound Effects tab and interact with the alert sounds table. 2. If using Mavericks, Open the VoiceOver Utility, choose sounds from the utility categories table and uncheck use audio ducking.
