I had to google it this evening. Open the book, across the top where are you
have the five tabs Library contents appearance search bookmarks, double tap
on appearance. now you bring up a pop-up window. there are various things
here like brightness font size font appearance and there is scroll view which
is the last item when you are swiping left to right. if it is on you can
double tap so it comes off. is is superb no I can read the books and my 5S!
After 2 1/2 years! in order to return to the text of the book double tap the
lower part of the screen which then closes the pop-up window. good luck.

in fact the setting was in appearance within the book itself. I am posting

myself. I have had my 5S for over two years and tonight is the first time I
have ever been able to read and iBook on this device. something so simple and
