This tutorial is for people using the latest Avast 5 on their
computers/laptops.

1. Go to the desktop with "winkey + M" Then press letter A till Avast is
highlighted.

2.Wait for a few moments for Avast to open up as it performs some check
routines just before you can work with it so be patient.

3. When it opens up, press the keys, "shift + Tab" to jump to the label that
says, "Current status tab" This will be the position you need to be in
before you go looking for the boot scan tab page.

4. Pressing the keys, "control + tab" a total of 8 times will drop you onto
the boot scan page of Avast.

5. Once you have reached the boot scan page, you will then press the tab key
on its own 5 times till you reach a checkbox which says, "Schedule now
checkbox not checked" At this point you will press the spacebar to check
this box.
Note: Once you press the spacebar on the checkbox mentioned above, again
some Avast routines will be kicked into play, give these operations a few
moments of your patience before you next use the tab key. If you try and use
the tab key or attempting to click on the next item with the mouse straight
after checking the box then nothing will happen.

Once you have the freedom to use the tab key or click with your mouse, use
"shift + tab" to jump to the restart computer button and press the spacebar
or press keys, "alt + E" to perform the same job.
Note: At this point the computer will begin to shut down and then restart
itself again. Once it restarts it will begin to perform the boot scan. It is
important to know here that while Avast is performing a boot scan you
cannot use windows as the windows environment as you know it will not be
available to you. Also a boot time scan can take considerable amounts of
time depending on how much files you have on your computer and if you have
extra external disks etc. so again be patient with it.

Finally, If Avast finds a virus during the boot scan a menu screen will come
up and unfortunately if you are a screen reader user then you will need
help to know what choices you have. The choices are as follows:

*. Press number 1 to remove the virus.
Press number 2 to remove this virus plus all other viruses Avast encounters
(This would be my choice)
Press number 3 to skip this potential virus and leave it untouched.

So generally, if a virus is found, I would tend to press the "number 2" key
just above the letters on my keyboard which will delete this virus and any
others it encounters leaving it a pretty much hands free operation from that
point onwards.
