Signing Up for Text Messaging

I recently began using my available web texts which I am given by Vodafone
each month through my PC and find them very useful and in these recessionary
times you should use all the free items you can get. I thought I would write
up a bit of a tutorial for anyone interested in signing up to use their
available web texts on the net and here it is.

1. Go to the web page, www.vodafone.ie and then arrow down to the "Register
Now" link and press enter key.

You will be taken to a new page which will say: (Step 1 of 3)

2. Here you will be asked to insert your mobile number into the edit box
provided. Use the jaws quick key of "letter E" to quickly jump you into this
edit box. Press enter to turn on "forms mode" to enable you to enter text.

3. Once you enter your mobile number provided in the edit box on this page,
press the tab key to jump you onto the "continue button" and press enter
key.
Notes: you will receive a text message with a password in it. This password
is only valid for 15 minutes so you need to continue the next steps of the
registration as soon as you receive it.

4. On the next webpage that comes up, there will be an edit box where you
will now type in the four digit number that has been sent to your mobile
phone. Type it in carefully and then tab over to the "Continue" button.
remember that you must return this number using the edit box in the web page
within fifteen minutes of it having been sent.

5. Once the four digit number has been returned the next page will now
allow you to choose a user friendly password of your own choice. Press the
tab key to the first edit box and choose a password which you like. Type it
in and now press tab key again to the "confirm password" edit box. Here type
in carefully again the exact same password you have chosen. If you make a
mistake and type it in incorrectly then you will be prompted to type in the
passwords again.

6. When you have correctly inserted the chosen password into both edit
boxes, tab over to the "Continue" button and press enter or spacebar.
Notes: At this point if everything you have done previously is correct then
your registration will be near completion.

7. On the second last page of the registration process there will be
several form fields to fill in regarding your personal data. Items such as
your name, address, phone number and some other details will be requested.
Once you fill in this information all will be more or less completed and
you will soon be ready to go using web texts on the net.

8. Tab over to the continue button once more and press enter. On this next
and last page you will find the usual marketing questions and to which you
can scroll down through using the arrow keys. If you are happy enough with
what you have read then just press enter on the finish button.

If you have completed the above instructions correctly then you should now
be ready to send text messages from your laptop or PC.

One final thing I did was to create a shortcut link on my desktop which when
I press enter key on it then I am brought to the log-in screen that you are
greeted with before you send a text message.
To do this follow the following instructions:

1. While on the desktop with nothing on this desktop selected, press the
application key on your keyboard. Shift + F10 will do also.
2. Arrow down to "New" and press right arrow, then down arrow to shortcut
and press enter.
3. Paste in the web address I have given you below when you are asked to
type in the location of the shortcut and then press enter key.

https://www.vodafone.ie/myv/messaging/webtext/?ts=1298626114961

4. Now you will be asked for a user friendly name for the shortcut, type in
something meaningful such as Web texts or some such title like this so
you'll know what the link points too then press enter.

Now you're done.

Hope you find this useful.

Paul.
