Hi Susan, Nothing, its purely for reading PDF files at least thats what I have only ever used it for but it is necessary nowadays to have it for this purpose as more and more documents are being distributed in this file format. Adobe Reader is the program that gives you access to PDF files (you cannot read them with any other program). So I guess your computer is trying to install it so that it can open the PDF file.
