Hi Paul,
Got heaps of results back from Google. Will need more info to narrow
it down, I'm afraid. One suggestion was to install the latest version
of IE. Another possible cause could be the AMD Catalyst Control
Centre. Anyways, this article might shed some light on your friend's

They recommend downloading and installing a special tool which makes
me a little suspicious. Download the file and check it on VirusTotal
first, just to be safe.
