Have you downloaded the pdf using Firefox? Or can you re-download it using
Firefox? For some reason, Firefox has the ability to renderr at least some
image pdf's in text, that the likes of Internet Explorer no longer can. (I
think this may be because of the 'security enhanced', checked, setting in
Adobe Reader.)
I would also have the ability to convert the images, using Kurzweil 1000,
which is good. A degree of reformatting, however, is entailed in any image
conversion from pdf via any OCR software.

Hi allo,
I'm doing a college course at the moment, and we have to do a
project, but all the material I've got to read through is in
image-only PDF files.
I've tried everything - I converted it using RoboBraille but it won't
open, then I converted it to a word document, and it just says
'graphic' all the way down - so it obviously didn't get any text from
it.
I'm using NVDA, so dn't think there's an OCR feature like there is in
JAWS. I read somewhere that Adobe Acrobat has an OCR feature, but I
can't find it in the latest version.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I get around this? I'm in a
very small colege, so there's no disability service support, and we're
sort of figuring it out as we go along.
Any help much appreciated!
