My apologies John. You are perhaps right in that I should have written to Tony
off list but as for your latter point, for the record, I do not know Tony other
than on this list, he is, like 99 per cent of the people on the list. A virtual
person! Finally. Apart from holiday issues he wished us to know about, he too
might have written to Elaine off list as his comments were not of a matter
relating to the list members generally.

Dear Tony,
Eleanor makes a valid point. Your "out of the office" emails
shouldn't be sent to mailing lists. But there was no need for Eleanor
to tell you that in front of everyone. She could have written to you
privately. I'm fed up of the two of you taking swipes at each other.
As a little purple man once famously said: Act your age, not your shoe
size!
