hi flor,

o, sorry, i thought they were only called toners when it was a lazor printer and cartridges when it was an ink printer.

i have black ink but i must be out of coloured ink even though i never use the coloured ink, we rangg lexmark yesterday and they said it wouldn't work we need the black ink and 2 coloured ink cartridges for the printer to work.

Hi Susan,

yes, an ink printer. the colour print may come out, if you use that option, but perhaps not correctly since you don't have any black toner left. Maybe that's what they meant when they said you need both. (Ink is also called toner, for printers. Either way, it's quite messy stuff.)

Susan,

Are you printing in black and white, or in colour? It's difficult for folk to tell how much ink you have left, until it's gone. If you were printing in colour but got blanks, then choose the 'black and white' radiobutton in the Pinter Properties, which you can tab to in the print dialogue. enter on printer properties; then tab through, and choose it by highlighting it, and OK your choice.

Susan maybe you are getting blank pages because the ink has run dry.

hi Dorothy,

yes, curries is very good with us also. the same thing is happening with me and getting lots of blank pages,. we have a lexmark printer and we gave them a ring this morning and they told us that the printer will not work unless you have the black and 2 colour cartridges, but we never ever use the colour cartridges. so they must be drying out or some thing, I do know that where we used to have the printer sitting was quite close to the radiator. so we moved it to the far side of the room however that room is always quite warm as the sun beams in all day long. well that's when we get the sun.

many thanks

Susan

Hi Susan

Ah, I understand you need a photocopier as well as a printer.

I have been talking to our Kevin(my son) about the ink colours drying up and he said anything is possible. I got rid of mine because it sounded as though it was printing out perfectly but when Kevin came in and told me I had loads of blank pages I was none too pleased. The printer I have now prints all the time which is just the job.

As Eleanor said, Curries or PC World would be a good idea to try as I have found the staff in both Curries and PC World most helpful. They always let me have a look at whatever I am buying and explain how to use it. When I needed a new phone, they let me take the phone home and said if it was no good after a week I could take it back and they would change it for me as it was only by using it that I would know whether it was right or not. Brilliant!!!

Hope you find the right printer soon.

Dorothy.
