i can't find a tab called show my documents on the desk top
what do you mean by in the advanced setting

Susan you could alternatively do the following to restore My
Docjuments Folder to the Desktop
1) Open windows explorer via start/programs/accessories/windows
explorer
2) choose folder option via tools
3) click view tab
4) in the advanced setting look for 'show my document on the desktop
i.e
have it ticked and click OK

it is not in the recycle bin but it is on the start menu, i don't
seem to be able to get it back on to the desk top though.

Hi Susan,
Check your "Recycle Bin" and see if there is a My Documents
shortcut in
there. If there is just arrow to it then press the application key
and
choose "Restore" by pressing enter key.
