hi Paul,

sorry I'm only getting back to you now but I've been away for a while then getting some decorating done so we haven't had much time to ourselves, when I follow your instructions I get to the bit when I go in to the format menu down to background and jaws says it is unavailable. it is probably some thing I am doing wrong, by the way I do all this whilst I'm in the edit box of an new email, is this right

many thanks

Susan

Hi Susan,

Here is how to add sound to your emails using either outlook express or
windows mail which replaces outlook express in windows vista.

1. Start with a new message in HTML format.
You must have your email set to use HTML format instead of plain text. You
can go into the "tools menu, options and then to the send page"
Here tab over to where it says HTML checkbox not checked, if it isn't then
check it with arrow keys or spacebar.
Tab to the ok button and hit enter.

2. Open up a new mail message screen and Select Format | Background |
Sound... from the menu.

3. Tab over to and Use the Browse... button to select the sound file you
want to play in the background. You may have some sound files stored
somewhere perhaps in a folder within "my documents" or elsewhere, you must
navigate to this folder to locate the sound files within it.
Note:Make sure the file is of a supported sound format.

4. Tab to theSpecify whether you want the sound file to be played
continuously or a certain number of times.

5. Tab and Click OK.

Note:To change the sound later, select Format | Background | Sound... again
from the Windows Mail or Outlook Express menu.

Hope this helps Susan.
I use it when sending some emails at Christmas, kind of adds a nice feature
to the email. I would say however that when specifying the amount of times
to play the tune in step 4, just have it set to 1. It can become pretty
annoying for someone listening to your email repeat play over and over and
over again.*smiles*.
Paul.
