Hi Joe.
This may be completely off beam but I wonder if you might have the rotor
setting open on speaking rate which would change the rate when you swipe up or
down? To check this, no need to unlock the phone, just place two fingers
slightly apart at the centre of the screen and do a twisting movement upwards
or downwards, like you were using a screwdriver and, as you twist, you will
hear the different rotor settings headings, language, volume etc. When it says
speech rate, do a one finger upwards swipe and the speaking rate will
increase, downwards swipe to decrease. When you have the rate to your
preferred setting, I suggest that you twist the rotor until you come to
headings and leave it at that.

nice and comfortable, but it keeps slowing down of it’s own accord, i don’t
