All applications covered in the training, apart from Access, support
Window-Eyes rather well. In the case of Word the program's weakness is
tables. Some problems may also occur in the Excel spreadsheet regarding
reading the contents of cells. That is most often the case with very large
sheets. Window-Eyes has no manufacturer-set configuration files for Access
databases, while those provided with the screenreader are developed for the
English-version Access and do not support properly the other versions of the
program. Below is a list of the most important key shortcuts for the
training process.

1 Speech Parameters

Window-Eyes provides sound for the following events: keyboard, screen and
mouse. Different speech parametres can be set for each of them or else they
can all be the same. Parameters that may be changed are: tone, volume, speed
and pitch. If the changes are not entered, parameter changes will work only
until Window-Eyes is launched again. There are synthesizers where one of the
above parameters cannot be changed. Unfortunately, there is no solution for
that problem, not all synthesizers are very compatible with screenreaders.

If you wish Window-Eyes to remember the speech parameters you have set,
.go to the Window-Eyes window after the settings are made,
.in the Global menu select and confirm: 'Apply settings'.

Speech parameter selection: INS+LEFT

Selection of the hardware for which you wish to change the speech parameter:
INS+RIGHT
This menu features the 'all' option, allowing setting identical values of
the speech parameter being changed for all the three appliances,

Parameter up: INS+UP

Parameter down: INS+DOWN

6 Window-Eyes Shortcuts for MS Internet Explorer

This section describes only those shortcuts available in Window-Eyes which
facilitate the working in the MS Internet Explorer. If a shortcut
description contains a reference to the numeric keypad, the shortcut will
work only once the numpad has been switched off using the Numlock key. The
shortcuts described here work in Window-Eyes version 4.5 and above. More
information concerning working in Internet Explorer using Window-Eyes can be
found in the program's Help.

Internet pages are made accessible for Window Eyes through a special
interface known as the MSA mode. Sometimes MSA will not start automatically
and then it must be launched manually. The keyboard shortcut to be used for
switching it on/off is CTRL+SHIFT+A.

While filling forms, in particular such controls as edit fields or various
selection lists, the MSA is switched off automatically. Such form controls
as 'selection fields' or 'switch buttons', which are groups of options, may
be ticked and ticked off with the space key without switching MSA off. That
facilitation is available only from Window-Eyes version 4.5. More settings
related to the page reading method may be changed in the Window-Eyes window,
in the global menu->Verbosity item->MSA submenu. If you wish to save changes
made there, use the 'apply settings' option in the Global menu. If you
cannot find the 'MSA' submenu in the Global menu->verbosity item in the
Window-Eyes version you are using, it means your program version is too old.
