Try using the KSApi. There's a sample available somewhere which demonstrates how to do that.

Thanks.

Hi!

I have a USB Audio device, that can be accessed through the standard
windows wdmaudio.sys. This device is not a real sound card, instead it
is a signal generator, and an oscilloscope (both working in the audio
frequency range). It works fine,  I can handle every needs using WinAPI
functions.
How can I get exclusive rights to that device in my application? I want
to exclude every other attempt to access that device, (at least) when
my application is running? The main problem is with Windows system
sounds, because windows plays those dings and other sounds on this
device, if the wave mapper is set to it. (If there is no other sound
device exists in the system this USB device will be the default one!)
(The supported operating systems: Win2K, WinXP)
