[wdmaudiodev] Multiple Independent channels of Audio

I would like to configure a 5.1 sound card to play 6 different channels
(mono) of audio for Windows 7 and above operating systems.
We are already doing this in linux using Alsa configuration.
Is this possible in Windows?
If yes - what APIs do we use to do this?
Similarly - for a 7.1 channel card, we would like it to play 8 different
channels of Audio if the processor is in a position to decode the 8 streams
of audio.
It does not have to necessarily be an extra card - it could be on board
audio too.
I understand that the sound output from sub-woofer output will be less than
ideal as there is a low pass filter installed there. But the quality is not
my concern.
