Hello.

I have a MIDI device for which I do NOT want the "2-" prefix to appear
for the second installation of this USB device (MIDI, but not USBMIDI).
For example, if I install the device on one USB port, unplug, and then
install on a second port, a "2-" is prefixed to the friendly name. Now
I tried naming the pin GUIDs (this is a port class based MIDI driver)
and placing the GUID in the registry with the name registry value, and
indeed KSSTUDIO shows that the pin name is bring accessed correctly from
the registry, but the "2-" is prefixed to it. I've noticed that this
prefix is present on some but not all USB devices, and some (not all)
have a non-zero serial number. Is there any way I can give a hint to
Vista SP1 NOT to prefix this to the device name?

thank you,

Philip Lukidis
