Lots of good info here on audio driver/os related interfaces: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa973502.aspx Here is the HD Audio DDI (ie. Hd audio bus driver interface): http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms789930.aspx There is no need to write your own bus driver as MS supplies this. Intel publishes the HD Audio Specification that has all the hardware details. Once you get your head wrapped around what you need to regarding the OS interfaces, the hardwares stuff should not be to bad. Don't be discouraged! There is a lot concepts to learn. The Ac97 driver is a good place to start to understand what needs to be done with all the interfaces you need to implement. -----Original Message----- From: wdmaudiodev-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdmaudiodev-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Pev Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2007 10:47 AM To: wdmaudiodev@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [wdmaudiodev] UAA Driver Information Hi all, Firstly, I'm new to the list so hello! I suspect I'm going to be lurking here for quite a while :-) My question that I was going to throw to the list is to do with UAA drivers. I'm looking at writing what's effectively a clone of the HD Audio class driver but extended for the hardware we're using. Now I'm slightly nervous due to the lack of sample code, documentation or pretty much anything beyond the HD Audio DDI spec document and a slew of powerpoint presentations that are fairly thin on meaty content. Can anyone reccommend any further sources of reference? Additionally, both the HD Audio DDI doc and the WinHEC2004 presentation point to whats referred to as the "Microsoft HD Audio IHV Enabling Kit version 1.0" which according to the PPT was released with both bus driver and function driver source code as well as further documentation but as I understand this it doesn't actually exist?! So basically am I right in thinking that I'm going to have to create both a bus driver and HD Audio function driver with not much more to start with than a copy of the ac97 sample, the HD Audio DDI document and a copy of hdaudio.h from the DDK? Can anyone that is (or has been) involved in writing a UAA driver provide any encouragement? (c: Best Wishes to all! ~Pev ****************** WDMAUDIODEV addresses: Post message: mailto:wdmaudiodev@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=subscribe Unsubscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe Moderator: mailto:wdmaudiodev-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx URL to WDMAUDIODEV page: http://www.wdmaudiodev.com/ ****************** WDMAUDIODEV addresses: Post message: mailto:wdmaudiodev@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=subscribe Unsubscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe Moderator: mailto:wdmaudiodev-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx URL to WDMAUDIODEV page: http://www.wdmaudiodev.com/
