A great deal of customers are asking for HD audio quality on USB (up to 192 KHz, 24 bits, 8 channels). To support it we need USB audio driver that will allow full usage of HS USB. In other words at the moment it is not that important (although is useful) to support USB audio class 2.0, but to have a driver that supports more data throughput.Currently for such applications we are limited to the ASIO driver. The customers usually drop the project when vendor specific driver is mentioned. All of the customers are targeting the products that are supported by the Microsoft driver and do not want to venture into the developing one.

There are occasional questions on this list about USB Audio 2.0 support in
Windows. We (the Windows sound team) are curious to hear specific reasons-
scenarios, business, features, etc.- that would be enabled if USB Audio 2.0
support was included in Windows.
Are any of you willing to share this? The more specific you can be, the better.
