Have you tried performing the same process with NVDA running?

While I only have a demo copy of jaws 18 installed here as a backup, tried it now quickly, and, besides audacity seeming to hang up, when I then tried to bring up narrator to see what could be happening, since jaws was also being quiet, it also crashed.

In other words, my guess is that jaws is implementing something with regards to audio output on the PC, or is interfering with audio channels, or something, but, like said, hardly ever even fire up jaws, so not too sure.

Hello all, I have installed latest version of Audacity on a laptop using Windows 10, and Jaws 17. When I run the program, as soon as I open a wave or MP3 file the program crashes, the only choice I have is to close Audacity. I uninstalled and re-installed with same results.

I have used Audacity on another machine under Windows 7 with no problems. Any hints as to how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
