Karen, firstly the easiest process to describe. From the track panel (where
you land when opening Audacity):
1. Press shift-controlj-f6
2. Either tab or shift-tab until you reach the record slider
3. Press arrow down to move by increments of 1 or pagedown to move in
increments of 20
4. Press control-f6 to return to the track panel
Do a test recording and repeat until desired result.
If you want to be more adventurous you can test the level by shift-tabbing
twice from the record slider to the record meter. Press the application key
and arrow down to start monitoring. Play a sample and check the level. To
check the level with JAWS you have to tab away from the meter and back. Those
using NVDA can simply read current line.
Note that the result is the peak level - the loudest sound. To retest you have
to stop monitoring and start again via the applications key. I find this a
most valuable facility when setting up to do a recording.

Hi Gary
I suspect you have not selected the track. Pressing Enter when focus
is on a track will toggle selection on and off. If the track is not
selected when you paste, the material will be placed on a fresh track.
That is probably why you are hearing both lots of material at once -
both tracks are playing.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Pasting audio at the end of the track.
Hi there listers. It is my first time mailing this list. I want to
place a large amount of audio that I have copied to the clipboard at
the end of the track. However, when I go to the end of the track and
paste the audio, it paists it at the beginning and then the audio
place in conjunction with the previous audio that is already there.
How can I remedy this
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Gary.
