The short answer is that you should be able to record and play back
through your Logitech headset or through the Mac's internal mike and
speaker. Audacity lets you select both recording and playback sources
independently. On Windows press shift-control-f6 to get to the upper
panel (I think substitute command for control on the Mac). If you
shift-tab you should come to playback and then recording options. You
can set both independently of the default sound card.
If those settings are adjusted appropriately and you still get errors,
further digging is in order.
You mentioned that you are using the latest version of Audacity. If so,
that may run you into accessibility issues, but Mac users can comment
more usefully on that.

Hi,
I have a Logitech USB headset with a mic attached. I get an error when I try
to record with it, and when I use the internal mic setting and then try to play
a recording back, there’s another error. I’ve checked both Audacity and
system sound preferences. Is there a way to use this kind of setup with the
latest version of Audacity, or can I only use just a UsB or headphone jack mic
by itself?
Thanks
