Hi Alyssa
The constant beeping when using NVDA is probably the update beeps. Their
purpose is to provide information when installing, copying etc but they can get
over-zealous. The parameters can be set in Object Presentation under
Preferences. The shortcut key to cycle through options is NVDA-u.

Andrew, just an update.
I’ve been using NVDA with it on one computer and Narrator on the other. Yes,
NVDA is much nicer to work with for sure. Hopefully I just stopped the
incessant beeping when doing edits or playing previews. I haven’t checked that
yet, but from what I can tell, it had something to do with mouse settings.

Hi Alyssa,
the crashing while using Jaws has started with the Windows 10 creators update,
and Freedom Scientific are aware of the problem. There are no problems when
using either NVDA or Window-Eyes, so the recommended work around is to use one
of these other screen readers when using Audacity until the problem is fixed,
