Hi Andrew,
Sorry to bother you again.
I’ve got my latency problem sorted out. But now I would like to hear myself in
my ears while I am recording. I can hear the tracks that I have recorded, but
not what I am recording at the time.
If I put on software play through, there is obviously they delay that you
normally get when playing through the windows sound card recording options.
How can I resolve this?
Thanks.
Gary

Hi Gary
When you are singing, are you recording onto a new track while listening to
vocals and/or music on another track(s)?  If so, (a) I have misunderstood
your issue and (b) Mark's demo is exactly what you need.  There was a
discussion here late last year about using clips to move material back and
forth on a track.  In a situation where you have made the perfect take only
to find that there is latency, that is an option.  Ideally though, it is
best to go through the tedium of adjusting for latency before embarking on
the recording.

Hi Andrew,
That is exactly the problem I have. The thing is, I need it to be perfect as
I have to sing. I appreciate the help.
If you have anything else to offer, I will be most grateful.
Thanks, Gary.

Hi Gary
Mark's latency demo is most helpful for understanding latency when recording
to subsequent tracks.  If I understand your problem correctly though, this
is not the issue you are having.  Am I right that you want to monitor your
recording as you record?  That is, hearing your voice and anything else that
you want in your project.
Do you have Software playthrough of input checked?  If so, that will let you
hear your voice.  However, in my experience, that will always result in
hearing your words quite some time after you have spoken them.
Are you recording directly through your computer's sound card?  If so,
options are limited.  Going into the Windows sound settings and checking
listen to this Device will let you hear your voice with some lag but not
nearly as much as using Audacity's Software playthrough of input.  Using
even a very inexpensive mixer should allow monitoring without lag.
By all means ask if you need more info.

Hi there,
I want to record a project with audacity.
I would like to hear what I am recording while I am recording it. However, I
have a huge amount of latency.
How can I resolve this?

Regards Gary.
