Hi Rich,

I use the same panramp & it works fine.

If it shows new next to the plugin all you need to do is tab to the enable button or I think even just hitting enter on the plugin should change it to enabled.

I'm guessing you have installed the 64bit version of audacity.

Some older plugins may no longer work as they are 32 bit.

I hope that helps.

Adrian

Hi Andrew and all:

First, I just installed Audacity 3.0.4 on a new Dell laptop with no prior installation of Audacity.  My prior version of Audacity was 2.3 on a different laptop.  After installing 3.04 on this laptop, I copied some of the plug-ins from the old computer to the plug-ins folder on this Audacity 3.0.4.  When I attempted to enable the transferred plug-ins in "add and remove plug-ins", I got several error messages stating that the libraries could not be located.  I then copied some of these plug-ins into the users-computer-appData-roaming-Audacity-plug-ins folder, but the result was the same.  When I review the list of plug-ins in the "add and remove plug-ins" window, it appears that the failed plug-ins indicate "new" after their names, instead of "disabled" or "enabled".  Unfortunately, I had been using a few of these plug-ins in my prior installation, but they are apparently no longer functional in 3.0.4.  Here is a list of some of the plug-ins that have failed to install:

panramp
freeverbToo
classicreverb
bouncy
ambience

Rich, here are several questions to consider.  Did you install the 64 or 35 bit version of 3.04?  If the 64 bit version, best to uninstall the old Audacity first. How did you install the plug-ins originally?  Without knowing the specifics of the plug-ins, I suggest you repeat the process.  But if you are now using the 64 bit version of Audacity, the plug-ins may not be compatible.
As has been discussed here at some length recently, Audacity 64 bit looks for plug-in .dll files (and other extensions) in C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins.
Does that clarify or further confuse?  If the latter, give us more details and the brains trust will go to work.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Moving Plugins from Previous Audacity Installation

I just installed Audacity 3.0.4.  There are few plugins from my 2.3 installation that I want to copy into this 3.0.4 version. How do I do this so that the matching libraries also get copied?
