[audacity4blind] Moving Round a Document

Hi to all and thanks for your help so far.
Having worked out how to operate the base boost and amplification settings, I
am now trying to for example, cut out the scratches/noise and space at start
and end of the recording.
Obviously I will have to select the bit I am working on, but how do you know
what you have selected?
In a Word document Jaws reads things as you select them, but really not sure
how we get round this one.
