It's always a good idea to play a little of what you have recorded
if you are visually impaired.  

I agree the latest Audacity version no longer initialises to the 
Windows default device (Microsoft Sound Mapper/Primary Sound
Capture Driver) and that this can be confusing for visually impaired
users if this causes the recording input to change. I'll put it on 
Bugzilla when I have time.
