Hi ron
According to me, you should check the folowing
1. Press Shift+I to choose the correct input device, and shift+O to choose the
output device.
2. In the audacity main window, press Ctrl+shift+f6 to the toolbar, then tab
aroundd to adjust the input and output level. I usually adjust the input to
20%, and output to 100%.
3. If you still have problem, check to make sure that you' aren't mute your
microphone. I'm using windows 7, so cannot give you the correct step for
windows xp.
Hope that help

  Subject: [audacity4blind] Recording Levels

  Hi Everyone.

I am trying to record from an external device, but when playing back am
getting no sound at all. Before when I did this Audacity would record the r
for record, then continue recording normally.

Could someone please advise how to check and/or change the recording levels
using the keyboard?

  Any help appreciated.

Using Jaws 13 and Windows XP.

  Many thanks.

  Ron
